Annette has been
a fitness advocate for over 20 years. Working briefly at Gold’s
Gym as a personal trainer and nutrition counselor, but mostly keeping
fit through various types of exercise including running, biking,
aerobics, kickboxing, and numerous “exercise fads” over
the years. Three plus years ago at age 50, she felt a need
for a better method of strengthening and flexibility and discovered
yoga and Pilates at Korrie’s Pilates Place. It wasn’t
long until the benefits of yoga and Pilates were visible. She
found Joseph Pilates’ method especially fascinating with
his theory of strengthening the functional muscles and not just the
superficial “pretty” muscles, as well as using breath
to oxygenate the muscles while working. She has spent the last
2 years in the KPP Pilates instructor course, receiving her certificate
in February, 2011. Her goal is to pass the Pilates Method Alliance
exam in November, receiving her international designation. Pilates
offers a lifetime of continued education, which she finds exciting
and hopes to mirror back to her students, offering methods of rehab
as well as continued health and fitness. |
